Dr. Suh is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (board certified) and is fellowship trained under John Kostuik MD, an internationally recognized pioneer in spine surgery. Following his fellowship, he was recruited as the Division Head of the Adult Spine at the University Of North Carolina Department Of Orthopedics. He remained in that position for two years, and then joined the North Carolina Spine Center, serving as its Medical Director for 17 years. In 2008, NC Spine partnered with Orthopedic Specialists of NC to provide comprehensive orthopedic care to a broad geography.
Dr. Suh limits his practice to spine disorders including the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. His practice encompasses both nonoperative and operative treatments. He is comfortable with treating the most straightforward issue such as a herniated disc or a very complex issue such as surgical revision of adult scoliosis. Patients comment that Dr. Suh provides compassionate care, serves as an educator so that patient and doctor can share in treatment decision making, and that his surgery is technically superb providing for excellent outcomes. He routinely receives referrals from primary care physicians, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, as well as other fellowship trained surgeons.
Dr. Suh is frequently invited to lecture at national and international spine meetings. Medical implant manufacturers consult with Dr. Suh to design and develop innovative and effective spinal surgery products. Insurance companies rely on Dr. Suh's experience and expertise in formulating policy about spine surgery. In his free time, Dr. Suh enjoys relaxing with his wife, Kay, a nurse practioner and his two lovely daughters, Sara and Hannah.
