In 2011, Michelle joined Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina (OrthoNC) to pursue her dream of practicing Sports Medicine.

While at OrthoNC, she has worked in multiple different specialties, including Orthopaedic Urgent Care, Sports Medicine, Joint Reconstructive Surgery, General Orthopaedic Surgery, Spine Surgery and Non-Operative Spine Clinic. She was promoted to PA manager 2014 and again promoted to Director of Clinical Services in 2016.

After a personal health setback in 2017, she became interested in using nutrition and lifestyle changes to better treat orthopedic-related conditions and improve quality of life (functional medicine/root cause/“head to toe” approach). In September 2019, she was named Director of Health and Wellness and entrusted with the task of designing and implementing the practice’s first health and wellness program called “OrthoNC Health.” In addition to overseeing the program, she completed training to become a health coach through UNC-G Department of Public Education in October 2019 and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program through Yoga Unlimited in May 2020. In August 2020, she was named as a PA Foundation Nutrition Outreach Fellow and received special training and resources on nutrition to enhance her clinical practice and give back to her community. She is currently providing clinical health coaching services for weight management and smoking cessation as well as seeing patients for pre-surgery wellness optimization and bone health (osteoporosis) screening and treatment.

Michelle is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery (PAOS). She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed with the North Carolina Medical Board. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance. She is a PA Foundation 2020 Nutrition Outreach Fellow.

When not working, Michelle enjoys practicing and teaching yoga. She is passionate about helping people achieve their health and wellness-related goals, traveling the world, spending time on the water boating and paddle boarding, and spending time with her husband and two wonderful boys!
